Introducing Cala Agulla

Tucked away just a short distance from the captivating medieval town of Capdepera, Cala Agulla is a hidden gem on the northeast coast of Mallorca. This boutique beach resort is cocooned within the untamed allure of sand dunes, pine forests, desert vegetation, and rugged terrains that make up the Llevant Peninsula Natural Park. Crafting Your Dream Beach Vacation

If you’re envisioning a beach holiday in Mallorca, consider a luxury beachfront hotel that offers easy access to the Mediterranean Sea, stunning balcony views, and the chance to dine in style to the soothing sound of the waves.

Stretching nearly 525 metres, Cala Agulla’s white sandy beach is a playground for water sports and activities. You can rent paddle boats, kayaks, or try stand-up paddle boarding. The water is crystal clear and clean, with a few shallow rocks to be mindful of when walking or swimming. While the beach can experience waves on windy days, it’s generally safe for young children. You can rent umbrellas and lounge chairs, and there’s ample sand for laying out your towel. However, the beach can get crowded in July and August, so early arrival is recommended.

Ensuring Your Safety and Ease of Access

Reaching Cala Agulla is straightforward. There’s ample paid parking for those arriving by car, and tourist buses also service the area. A taxi ride from Capdepera won’t break the bank, and boat arrivals are possible, with several moorings available further out. However, be cautious of the large rocky areas underwater. The closest port is Cala Rajada.

Lifeguards are on duty, and flags clearly indicate the water conditions. The calm, shallow waters are perfect for kids, but be aware that winds can cause waves. Access for wheelchairs and strollers is limited due to a short sandy walk from the street to the beach. On-site facilities include outdoor showers and toilets. As one of Mallorca’s Blue-Flag beaches, Cala Agulla is clean and eco-friendly, with recycling and rubbish areas available.

Exploring the Vicinity of Cala Agulla

Cala Agulla is enveloped by stunning countryside. The closest town, Capdepera, is a charming hillside village with roots in medieval times. As one of the easternmost towns in all of Mallorca, it offers stunning views and quaint shops and restaurants. A trip to Capdepera Castle is a fun outing for both kids and adults, though the uphill walk can be challenging in the heat.

Golf Capdepera is a premier 18-hole course boasting excellent greens and facilities, including a clubhouse and a delightful restaurant.

Just a few kilometres further from Capdepera lies Artá, the largest town on the east side of Mallorca. Despite growing tourism, it retains a traditional and low-key vibe. The Santuari de Sant Salvador, a fortified church dating back to the 14th century (though much of it was renovated in the 19th century), is one of Artá’s main attractions. The town’s rich historical past makes for a great day of sightseeing.

Cala Rajada, a popular resort beach offering full amenities, including restaurants, hotels, and water activities, is just a stone’s throw away.

To escape the heat, consider a visit to the Cuevas del Drac or the Cuevas d’Artà, both within easy driving distance from Cala Mesquida. Guided tours take you deep underground to marvel at the spectacular stalagmites and stalactites.
